Cherub Rock-Smashing Pumpkins

"Be somebody's fool this year"

I've been craving honey like crazy lately.  I have no idea why.  Really weird craving.....I swear I'm not pregnant lol.  I really just want to take a honey bear and it all of the honey. But I'd gain weight.....

http://www.failfunnies.com/honey-container-fail/
I think this is one of the only songs that I know that mentions honey as an actual thing instead of a term of endearment. Plus, the smashing pumpkins are a great band.  Probably one of the best bands from the 90s.  Too bad they can't get along.

Freak out
And give in
Doesn't matter what you believe in
Stay cool
And be somebody's fool this year
'cause they know
Who is righteous, What is bold
So I'm told

Who wants honey?
As long as there's some money
Who wants that honey?

Hipsters unite
Come align for the big fight to rock for you
But beware
All those angels with their wings glued on
'cause deep down
They are frightened and they're scared
If you don't stare

Who wants honey
As long as there's some money
Who wants that honey?

Let me out
yeah
Let me out
yeah
Let me out
yeah
Let me out

Tell me all of your secrets
Cannot help but believe this is true
Tell me all of your secrets
I know, I know, I know,
Should have listened when I was told

Who wants that honey
As long as there is some money
Who wants that honey?

Let me out
yeah
Let me out
yeah
Let me out
yeah
let me out

Changing- Airborne Toxic Event

"You're looking at me like I'm something you own"

I'm just kind of meh today.  Not too inspired to really do much.  Sorry.

http://merrymerryquitecontrary.wordpress.com/page/5/?archives-list=1
I love this song.  It's good to hear from the band again.  I super duper love the part where he's like "I am a gentleman, didn't I...." So awesome.  I'm sorry you were whipped dude. I understand your pain.

All these buckets of rain, I've heard enough about
You say that I lied
I am a gentleman didn't I ask for a place I could stay?
What were we both thinking?
The next part just got in the way

You were just always talking about changing, changing
What if I was the same then, same then, the same I always was?

All these things that you say
like I'll forget about the mind-numbing games that you play
I am a gentleman, didn't I pay for every laugh every dime
every bit every time and then you feed me some line

I want here my what about changing, changing
Guess what I am the same man, same man, same man I've always been

Days pass and turn into weeks, when we don't even speak
We just lay wide awake and pretend we're asleep
You go home alone and you're checking your phone
and you're looking at me like I'm something you own

All these buckets of rain, you can't forget about it, you say I never tried
I am a gentleman, didn't I answer every time that you call, pick you up when you fall
But you never listen at all
You were just always talking about changing, changing
Guess what I am the same man, same man
Changing, changing
Guess what I am the same man, same ma.
Changing, changing
Guess what I am the same man, same man

Goodbye Stranger- (Supertramp)- Plus Overview of the Week

"I'll never look behind me"

OK so work has been killing me which is why I haven't had any posts for a while.  I'll do an overview of the past week's would be songs without the lyrics cause that takes too long.  So sorry again.  In other news, my ex won't leave me alone.  He facebook chatted me yesterday and then ended it some senitmental comment then signed off immediately so that I couldn't respond back.  Geez.

http://sarahstanleyinspired.com/2009/08/03/tour-de-frustration/
So, this is the only song that I could find that would be somewhat appropriate.  I'm not mad at him.  I just feel that he really needs to get over me.  We weren't together all that long. It's kind of starting to freak me out.

It was an early morning yesterday
I was up before the dawn
And I really have enjoyed my stay
But I must be moving on

Like a king without a castle
Like a queen without a throne
I'm an early morning lover
And I must be moving on

Now I believe in what you say
Is the undisputed truth
But I have to have things my own way
To keep me in my youth

Like a ship without an achor
Like a slave without a chain
Just the thought of those sweet ladies
Sends a shiver through my veins

And I will go on shining
Shining like brand new
I'll never look behind me
My troubles will be few

Goodbye stranger it's been nice
Hope you find your paradise
Tried to see your point of view
Hope your dreams will all come true
Goodbye Mary, Goodbye Jane
Will we ever meet again
Feel no sorrow, feel no shame
Come tomorrow, feel no pain

Now some they do and some they don't
And some you just can't tell
And some they will and some they won't
With some it's just as well

You can laugh at my behavior
That'll never bother me
Say the devil is my savior
But I don't pay no heed

And I will go on shining
Shining like brand new
I'll never look behind me
My troubles will be few
Goodbye stranger it's been nice

Take it Easy- Surfer Blood

"I wish I could do whatever it takes to get along"

My first real day of work.....I am exhausted.  I forgot how much work worinking is.  I work tomorrow also. Oh geez. It wasn't that bad though, just tiring.  AND I'm getting paid!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/hotnacho/1369952540/
Surfer Blood sounds a lot like Vampire Weekend.  So, that's probably why I like them lol!  I really need to take it easy after work.  I slept for like an hour and a half after I got home.  So this song somewhat fits.

You and me could it be meant to be
Nothing's wrong when I'm with you
The ice in me is melting rapidly
Now I'm a believer too

Up all night I shiver with delight
Everytime I hear your song
I can't believe you're everything I need
Mama you can do no wrong

I wish I knew everything it takes to get along
Then we should take it easy or we will both be sorry
Then we should take it easy, take it easy
Or we both be sorry
Let's take it easy

Sometimes I think about what I would do without
Who knew we could be such friends?
Dreaming of your love and warm and touch
When can I see you again?

Up all night I shiver with delight
Everytime I hear your song
Dizzy with anticipation
How's everything coming along?

I wish I could do whatever it takes to get along
Then we should take it easy or we will both be sorry
Then we should take it easy, take it easy
Or we will both be sorry, or we will both be sorry

It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)- REM

"The other night I dreamt of knives, continental drift divide, mountains sit in a line, Leonard Berstein"

So the world didn't end.  Sure the volcano in Iceland blew up but I'm pretty sure that is mere coincidence.  You know, I was actually going to be quite upset if the world ended because there is so much in life that I haven't done yet.  I mean, come on, I'm only 20.  But, it is kind of funny how many people were actualy convinced that the world was going to end.  This is just my opinion, but I'm pretty sure Jesus isn't going to tell us when he is coming back.  If he did, people would get on their best behavior only because they are expecting him, not because they actually want to be good people.  I totally support Jesus' element of surprise.

http://www2.ucar.edu/ucarat50/putting-weather-modification-to-test
So, in honor of our non-impending doom, the song of the day is REM's wonderful mishmash of lyrics.  Kind of funny in this situation because supposedly the world was supposed to end but I feel still alive, hence I feel fine.

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane
Lenny Bruce is not afraid
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn
World serves its own needs, dont misserve your own needs
Feed it off an aux speak, grunt, no, strength, turn
Ladder start to clatter with fear fight down height.
Wire in a fire, representing seven games, in a government
For hire and a combat site
Left of west and coming in A hurry with the furies breathing down your neck
Team by team reporters baffled, trumped, tethered cropped
Look at that low playing
Fine, then. Uh oh, Overflow, population, common food, but it'll do
Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its own needs,
Listen to your heart bleed dummy with the rapture and the revered and the right, right.
You vitriolic, Patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched

It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine

Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught in foreign towers
Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn
Locking in, uniforming, and book burning, blood letting.
Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate
Light a candle, light a motive. Step down, step down
Watch your heel crush, crushed, uh-oh, this means no fear cavalier
Renegade steer clear
A tournament, a Tournament, a tournament of lies
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives and I decline

It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine (it's time I had some
time alone)
I feel fine
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine (it's time I had some
time alone)
I feel fine

The other night I dreamt of knives, continental drift divide, mountains sit in a line
Leonard Bernstein
Leonid Brezhnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom
You symbiotic, patriotic, slam book neck, right? Right
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine (it's time I had some
time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine (it's time I had some
time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine (it's time I had some
time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (it's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine (it's time I had some

Takin' Care of Business- Bachman Turner Overdrive

"If things were easy as fishing you could be a musician"

I started my job today.  It seems pretty easy. Well, actually I can't judge that yet, today was just training, but I think I can handle it lol.  It will be so nice to have money in my pocket again.

http://www.jdhoffice.com/acroprint125.html
I love classic rock.  Seriously, people knew how to create jams back then.  It also reminds me a lot of A Knight's Tale lol yeah soundtracks.  But, anywho, the lead singer has a really cool smokey voice, plus the piano is featured quite a lot....which is awesome.

They get up every morning from the alarm clock's warning
Take the eight-fifteen into the city
There's a whistle up above and people push and people shove
And all the girls, who try to look pretty
And if your train's on time you can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed look at me I'm self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day

And I've been takin' care of business everyday
Takin' care of business every way
I've been takin' care of business it's all mine
Takin' care of business and working overtime
Workout

If things were easy as fishing you could be a musician
If you could make sounds loud or mellow
Get a second hand guitar
Chances are you'll go far
If you get in with the right bunch of fellows
People see you having fun just a lying in the sun
And tell them that you like it this way
It's the work that we avoid and we're all self employed
We love to work at nothing all day

And we've been takin' care of business everyday
Takin' care of business every way
We've been takin' care of business it's all right
Takin' care of business and working overtime

Take good care of my business
When I'm away
Everyday

They get up every morning from the alarm clock's warning
Take the eight-fifteen into the city
There's a whistle up above and people push and people shove
And the girls, who try to look pretty
And if your train's on time you can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed look at me I'm self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day

And I've been takin' care of business everyday
Takin' care of business every way
I've been takin' care of business It's all mine
Takin' care of business and working overtime

Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Takin' care of business
Everyday
Takin' care of business
Every way
Takin' care of business
It's all mine
Takin' care of business
And working overtime
Takin' care of business

Fruit Machine- The Ting Tings

"Now you feel the fever as I leave you wanting more"

I got a job!!!!!!!! Woohooo back in the workplace.  It's not to spectacular, salad bar at our local grocery store but hey it's food related (nutrition major) and it pays; I am in no way complaining.  Plus, 2 of my really close friends and my mom work there so this just may be a good fit for me.  It's so nice to have a steady income again.

http://www.eatingthebeats.com/2011/03/indie-rock-deli-how-to-dress-salad-well-inspired-by-how-to-dress-well/
This song has nothing to do with working.  However, it does mention fruit, which I will be working with in my new job lol.  This song is really catchy.  Really good percussion, steady beats, simple melody.  Very typical ting tings....which is a good thing.

You keep playing me like a fruit machine
Putting in change systematically
Winning streak that you had over me
Has turned into your broken tragedy

Turn your pockets out onto the street
Now you see you've spent it all on me
You see my true colors and I sing
Your skin is a pair of sympathies

You've hit the bottom one hundred times before
Now feel the fever as I leave you wanting more
You thought you could turn and walk away
Taking chances that weren't yours to take
Win, I don't think so my foolish boy
Watch the next one taking all the joy
Hold me, nudge me, spinning me around
Where's the money? Can't hear that clinking sound

Ka-ching, Ka-ching boy
Ka-ching, Ka-ching boy
Ka-ching, Ka-ching boy
Ka-ching, Ka-ching boy

You keep playing me like a fruit macine
Overstretch your generosity
Thought of bandits leading you astray
The little we had, you've thrown it all away

Go! Go! Go! (Yeah you're on a roll)
Go! Go! Go! (Yeah you're on a low)
Go! Go! Go! Go!

You find it hard to stop now
You're running like a steam train
Oh I like the way that you do that

Ka-ching, Ka-ching
Ka-ching, Ka-ching

You keep playing me like a fruit machine
You keep playing me like a fruit machine
You keep playing me like a fruit machine
You keep playing me like a fruit machine

Crawling Back to You- Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

"I'm so tired of being tired"

In the mess of all that has happened this week, I have started thinking about my ex again.  I don't want to get too in depth or anything.  It's not like I want the whole cyber world to know what I'm writing in my diary.  But, I have to somewhat explain the reasoning for choosing the song of the day.  He broke up with me and, sometimes, I'm still reeling.

http://www.stockpodium.com/en/image-photo-8916025/Very-old-diary-with-a-bronze-lock-on-it/
I absolutely adore this song.  I love Tom Petty, plus I love slow ballads, so its a win win.  I just think the melody is so pretty and lyrics are so vulnerable and raw.  I write songs, and it's songs like this that remind me to write exactly what I feel, and not worry about how pathetic it just may sound.

Waiting by the side of the road
For day to break so we could go
Down into Los Angeles
With dirty hands and worn out knees

I keep crawling back to you
I keep crawling back to you

The ranger came with burning eyes
The chambermaid awoke surprised
Thought she'd seen the last of him
She shook her head and let him in

Hey baby, there's something in your eyes
Tryin' to say to me
That I'm gonna be alright if I believe in you
It's all I want to do

It was me and my sidekick
He was drunk and I was sick
We were caught up in a barroom fight
Till an Indian shot out the lights

I'm so tired of being tired
Sure as night will follow day
Most things I worry about
Never happen anyway

I keep crawling back to you
I keep crawling back to you

Sorry Sorry- Rooney

"From her point of view I would be confused too"

I still feel really bad for what happened for hurting someone yesterday.  They aren't taking it well, but I had to do it. Sometimes you have to look out for yourself and listen to your gut. My gut was saying something wasn't right.  And I think subconciously, I knew it.  Wow, what a week this has been!

http://chitobakamo.wordpress.com/2008/10/26/sorry/
When I listen to Rooney, it brings me back to my preteen days when they were featured in The Princess Diaries which was my favorite movie, partly because Erik von Detten starred in it.  He is such a babe.  I was pretty much obsessed with him.  But, anywho, back to Rooney.  They are a really groovy band and this song really hits my heart strings.

Well, I met this girl on a
Saturday night, saturday night
Saturday night, saturday night
Saturday night, saturday night

She sat there all alone with that
Shirley temple and a cellular phone
No one to call
No one to ring
Cause no ones home

The bartender knew her number and name
I grabbed my cell phone and gave her a ring
Wrong number
Guess i've gotta do it the hard way

I walked up to her having seen the future and said
I'm sorry sorry for making your life a living hell
I'm sorry sorry for making your life a living hell

That wasn't me
That was alter ego
That wasn't me
That was johnny rockets

She was so confused
From her point of view i would be confused too
I was so rude
What was i thinking?

But, but she dug my hair and new suede shoes so much
She dragged me straight, straight to her room
And i was forgetting what i knew I would do

Two hours later we lay on the bed and I said
I'm sorry sorry for making your life a living hell
I'm sorry sorry for making your life a living hell

That wasn't me
That was alter ego
That wasn't me
That was johnny rockets

I'm sorry, sorry for making your life a living hell
(i'm sorry, i'm sorry, i'm sorry, i'm sorry)
I'm sorry sorry for making your life a living hell
(i'm sorry, i'm sorry, i'm sorry, i'm sorry)

That wasn't me
That was alter ego
That wasn't me
That was johnny rockets

I'm sorry, sorry for making your life
I'm sorry, sorry for making your life
I'm sorry, sorry for making your life a living hell

Hurt- Nine Inch Nails

"You could have it all, my empire of dirt"

I had to hurt someone today.  And in the process, I also hurt myself.  I feel absolutely horrible.

http://iard.blog.friendster.com/2009/06/
This song is amazing.  I love both the NIN version and the Johnny Cash version.  Both so impacting.  The guitar riff clashes so well.  Really sums up how I feel today.

I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
the only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
the old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
but I remember everything

What have I become?
my sweetest friend
Everyone I know
goes away in the end
And you could have it all
my empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
the feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

What have I become?
my sweetest friend
Everyone I know
goes away in the end
And you could have it all
my empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
a million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

Take On Me- A-Ha

"Today's another day to find you"

One of my favorite shows got canceled...Glory Daze.  I really loved it.  But, I'm like 3 months late discovering it was canceled.  Ugh.  It was such a funny show.  My favorite character was that druggie guy. So funny. WHYYYYYYY??!?!?!??!?!

TBS cancelled Glory Daze after just one season.
http://screenrant.com/glory-daze-canceled-mcrid-103212/
Well, in honor of that show, the song of the day is my favorite 80s song.  I Have always loved Take On Me.  It was the first song I learned on the guitar.  Plus, the singer has amazing falsetto.

We're talking away
I don't know what
I'm to say
I'll say it anyway
Today's another day to find you
Shying away
I'll be coming for your love, ok

Take on me (take on me)
Take me on (take on me)
I'll be gone
In a day or two

So needless to say
I'm odds and ends
But I'll Be
Stumbling away
Slowly learning that life is ok

Say after me:
It's no better to be safe than sorry

Take on me (take on me)
Take me on (take on me)
I'll be gone
In a day or two

Oh, the things that you say
Is it life or
Just to play my worries away?
You're all the things
I've got to remember
You're shying away
I'll be coming for you anyway

Take on me (take on me)
Take me on (take on me)
I'll be gone
In a day
(Take on me, take on me)
(Take me on, take on me)
I'll be gone (take on me)
In a day

Pumped Up Kicks- Foster the People

"Yeah the slight of my hand is now a quick pull trigger"

I went to a Grad party today of a good friend from high school.  I love grad party season.  You get to catch up with people you haven't seen in a while.  Makes you really miss high school, though.  Well, the grad girl's little sister has a band and they performed a few songs including this wonderful song.

http://adamblueproductions.com/graduation-songs-2010/
I love this song.  It is probably my new favorite song.....well at least my new favorite song for the summer.  Love it.  It's so catchy plus I love that they use the term "pumped up kicks."  I would love to talk like that.  But, I'm not that fetch so I guess that's probably not going to happen.  Oh, also, I like the whistling in the chorus and how it sounds a little muffeled.  Love that sound.

Robert's got a quick hand
He'll look around the room, he won't tell you his plan
He's got a rolled cigarette, hanging out his mouth he's a cowboy kid
Yeah he found a six shooter gun
In his dads closet hidden in a box of fun things, and I don't even know what
But he's coming for you, yeah he's coming for you

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet

Daddy works a long day
He be coming home late, yeah he's coming home late
And he's bringing me a surprise
'Cause dinner's in the kitchen and it's packed in ice
I've waited for a long time.
Yeah the slight of my hand is now a quick pull trigger
I reason with my cigarette
And say your hair's on fire, you must have lost your wits, yeah

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet

99 Problems- Hugo

"Make the devil change his mind"

I got all this scamming thing figured out.  They didn't get any of my money so HA! Take that asshoes!  And yes, I meant to spell it like that. Besides that, I have been crocheting all day.  I'm making a blanket that looks like a tetris screen. Pretty awesome.  Plus some hot pads.  Why pay for it when you can make it?

http://blog.timesunion.com/fiberarts/crochet-its-not-just-kitsch-anymore/1372/
Today's song has absolutely nothing to do with what happened today.  Sorry for the disappointment.  But I really don't know how you would be disappointed in learning about Hugo's 99 Problems.  Well, we all know that 99 Problems is a Jay-Z song.  So, apparently, Hugo is fan of the song.  He heard a natural melody in it, changed some of the lyrics, and made it new.  And, I have to say, it is brilliant.

If your havin' girl problems
I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems and a bitch ain’t one

Tip my hat to the sun in the west
Feel the beat right in my chest
At the crossroads a second time
Make the devil change his mind

Its a pound of flesh but its really a ton
99 problems and a bitch ain’t one
If your havin' girl problems
I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems and a bitch ain’t one
99 problems but a bitch ain’t one

Like broken glass under my feet
I can lose my mind in the sea
Looking for prize but I don’t want blood
All I wanna drink that are drink the flood
You can come inside but your friends can’t come
99 problems and a bit ain’t one

If your havin' girl problems I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems and a bitch ain’t one
I got 99 .. 99 .. 99 .. 99
99 problems But a bitch ain’t one
99
99 problems and a bit ain’t one

Liar (It Takes One to Know One)- Taking Back Sunday

"Your spotless insticts are valid"

I may have been scammed.  I really don't want to talk about it too much.  I'm pretty embarrassed.  But it makes me sad that those kind of people are out there.

http://moneywatch.bnet.com/spending/blog/consumer-reporter/how-to-avoid-the-new-years-top-scams/848/
I love old Taking Back Sunday.  Ah, the good ol' days of alternative rock with band like TBS, Brand New, and Dashboard Confessional.  My friend is really into early 2000 alternative and insists that new music is never going to be as good as those days.  Hmm....I don't know.

All our secrets they are tailored trouble
Draped loose now around your hips
Your spotless instincts are valid
We co-exist

Got 26 days to work with (got 26 days)
Got 26 days to work with
(It moves, it moves, it moves)
We'll see what all gets done

I'm an addict for dramatics
I confuse the two for love
You can tell me that you don't beg

Liar (liar)
If we're keeping score
We're all choir boys at best
(Intrusive and arrogant)
Liar (liar)
If we're keeping score
We're all choir boys at best
(Intrusive and arrogant)

Got 26 days to work with (got 26 days)

Then back on that island that you swear by
Still barely can afford
It's still a question of How long will this hold?
Is it any different now that we are
(I said we are patient)
Oh, don't you go there, not here, not now
(It moves, it moves, it moves)
Not here, not now

I'm an addict for dramatics
I confuse the two for love
You can tell me that you don't beg

Liar (liar)
If we're keeping score
We're all choir boys at best
(Intrusive and arrogant)
Liar (liar)
If we're keeping score
We're all choir boys at best
(Intrusive and arrogant)

We're all choir boys at best!

Liar (liar)
If we're keeping score
We're all choir boys at best
(Intrusive and arrogant)
Liar (liar)
If we're keeping score
We're all choir boys at best
(Intrusive and arrogant)
Liar (liar) Liar (liar)
It takes one to know one

Surprise, Surprise- Brett Dennen

"Songbird sitting in a tree house with a trumpet to her lips"

I know this is a day late.  It's because of that dumb site maintenance yesterday....ugh.  But, that guy I'm dating surprised me late night.  Surprise date!

http://sjdahlman.wordpress.com/author/sjdahlman/

I have recently just discovered Brett Dennen which I know is blasphemy since he is kind of the quintessential indie rocker.  Eh, my bad.  But, so far, I like his stuff.

Dark clouds gather in the afternoon
Come together just to cry
Seagulls struggling against the wind
Falling out of the sky
Grandma's gathering aluminum cans in a rusty shopping cart
Born-againers getting their lives together while my whole world's falling apart

Open up your eyes
It's happening all around you
If it hasn't found you
Well You know it's just a matter of time
Surprise surprise
What do you think the world owes you
It's not the way it's supposed to go
Well you know It's just a matter of time

Songbird sitting in a tree house with a trumpet to her lips
I'm laying on my back in the tall green grass staring up at the eclipse
Whispers lurking in the alley behind where the children where no shoes
Call girls and corner kids hustling saying what do you got to lose

Open up your eyes
It's happening all around you
If it hasn't found you
Well You know it's just a matter of time
Surprise surprise
What do you think the world owes you
It's not the way it's supposed to go
Well you know It's just a matter of time

And there's nowhere you can run to because the eyes are upon you
Some of the coming up hard and hungry
Stepping up to take your turn
Some of them throwing their money in the fire
Just to watch it burn

Open up your eyes
It's happening all around you
If it hasn't found you
Well You know it's just a matter of time
Surprise surprise
What do you think the world owes you
It's not the way it's supposed to go
Well you know It's just a matter of time

Back Broke- Swell Season

"Don't give me false hope"

My doggy is hurt. We woke up this morning and she was shaking uncontrollably.  At first, we thought it was  a seizure but it lasted too long.  We finally took her to the pet hospital and they think she did something to her back.  I mean, she is a weiner dog, so it seems probable.  I hope she's ok.

http://ronjoewhite.blogspot.com/2010/09/neighborhood-dog-attacks.html
I love Swell Season.  They are so folky, and sensitive, and harmonic.  I loved Once.  I thought the soundtrack was fabulous. And I especially love Glen Hansard's voice.  Raspy awesome.

Back broke and dancing
cause you're here
beside me
cause you're here
cause you're here
here with me

Back broke and happy
cause you're near
cause you're near
nearer to me

I came on your command
Don't give me false hope
I'm back by big demand
Don't give me false hope

Back broke and smiling
cause it's clear
cause it's clear
you still want me

I came on your command
Don't give me false hope
I came on your command
Don't give me false hope
We're back by big demand
Don't give us false hope

Back broke and crying
cause it's near
cause it's near
Our pardon

Stay (I Missed You)- Lisa Loeb

"You said that I was naive and I thought that I was strong"

I am currently watching the 40 Greatest One Hit Wonders of the 90s on VH1.  Boy, do I miss the 90s.  Best days of my life for sure. Plus, the music was amazing.

http://spinningmusic.wordpress.com/2008/06/04/gonna-make-you-sweat-spin-mix-43-minutes/
Stay is my favorie 90s song.  Actually, it's my favorite song lol.  My favorite song from my favorite move Reality Bites.  I seriously cannot not sing to this song. I love how it really doesn't have a chorus, but just multiple verses like it a sung dialogue.  I love that.  It's like she's singing a conversation, or at least a profession of love.

You say I only hear what I want to
You say I talk so all the time so

And I thought what I felt was simple
And I thought that I don't belong
And now that I am leaving
Now I know that I did something wrong 'cause I missed you
Yeah yeah, I missed you

You say I only hear what I want to
I don't listen hard, don't pay attention to the distance that you're running
To anyone, anywhere
I don't understand if you really care,
I'm only hearing negative
No, No, No, Bad

So I, I turned the radio on, I turned the radio up (turn the radio)
And this woman was singing my song
Lover's in love and the other's run away
Lover is crying 'cause the other won't stay
Some of us hover when we weep for the other who was
Dying since the day they were born
Well, well, this is not that
I think that I'm throwing, but I'm thrown

And I thought I'd live forever, but now I'm not so sure
You try to tell me that I'm clever
But that won't take me anyhow, or anywhere with you

You said that I was naive and I thought that I was strong
Oh, I thought, hey, I can leave, I can leave
Oh, but now I know that I was wrong, 'cause I missed you
Yeah, I miss you

You said, You caught me 'cause you want me and one day you'll let me go
You try to give away a keeper, or keep me
Cause you know you're just so scared to lose
And you say, Stay

You say I only hear what I want to

My Body- Young the Giant

"Fools in a spiral round this town of steel"

I've started a new workout routine.  I really need to get back in shape.  I hate it when I tell people that because they look at me and say why.  I am skinny but that no way means I'm healthy.  Plus, I'm a nutrition major and need to stop being a hypocrit.  I type this as I'm eating cheesecake.

http://ohheyitshil.blogspot.com/2009/04/marathon-monday-t-7-days-yes.html
So, my body is pretty good song.  Really catchy.  I really like the lead singer's voice.  Reminds me of someone else but I can't think of who.  Hope to hear more from them.

Stop, the train is riding
Down to the station
Where you lived
When we were school kids

Hey, the rails are gone now
And I am falling down
Fools in a spiral
Round this town of steel

My body tells me no
But I won't quit
Cause I want more
Cause I want more
My body tells me no
But I won't quit
Cause I want more
Cause I want more

Stop, the train is riding
Down to the station
Where I lived
When I was a cool kid

Hey, is it my fault that
The fallen embers burn
Down in a spiral
Round your crown of thieves

My body tells me no
But I won't quit
Cause I want more
Cause I want more
My body tells me no
But I wont quit
Cause I want more
Cause I want more

It rides out of town

Oh, it's my road
It's my road
It's my road
It's my road
It's my road
It's my road

And it's my war
It's my war
It's my war
It's my war

His eyes are open
His eyes are open

Oh, cause I want more
I want more
I want more

His eyes are open
His eyes are open

Hey, hey, hey
My body tells me no
But I won't quit
Cause I want more
Cause I want more
My body tells me no
But I wont quit
Cause I want more
Cause I want more

It rides out of town

Mama- Spice Girls

"I never thought you would become a friend I never had"

Happy Mother's day mommys! I love my mom.  She really is my best friend and I tell her everything.  I've got something a little special up my sleeve for her tonight.  I'm cooking dinner....and let me tell ya, I'm a good cook.  So, give your mom a hug today, or if that's not possible, call her up.  She raised you into who you are, so show her that you care.

http://www.wallyhood.org/2011/05/mothers-day-dining-wallingford/
I do love me some spice girls.  Oh, man, childhood! I loved them.  I had the spice worldmovie, and a purse with them on it, and a poster, and about 3 years ago I got their greatest hits cd.  Girl Power!

She used to be my enemy and never letting me be free
catching me in places that I know I shouldn't be
Every other day I crossed the line
I didn't mean to be so bad
I never thought you would become a friend I never had

Back then I didn't know why
Why you were misunderstood (mama)
So now I see through your eyes
all that you did was love

Mama I love you, Mama I care
Mama I love you, Mama my friend
You're my friend

I didn't want to hear it then but
I'm not ashamed to say it now
Every little thing you said and did was right for me
I had a lot of time to think about
about the way I used to be
Never had a sense of my responsibility

Back then I didn't know why
why you were misunderstood
So now I see through your eyes
all that you did was love

Mama I love you, Mama I care
Mama I love you, Mama my friend
You're my friend ,you're my friend

But now I'm sure I know why (I know why)
why you were misunderstood
So now I see through your eyes
all I can give you is love (all I can give you is love)

Mama I love you, Mama I care
Mama I love you, Mama my friend
Mama I love you, Mama I care
Mama I love you, Mama my friend
You're my friend, you're my friend

Ohh, my mama my love
Ohh, my mama my love

In love in you, in love in me
And love is true and guaranteed

Im loving you,you loving me
our love thats true so true

Summer Fires- The Wilderness of Manitoba

"Summer burns us whole again"

It finally feels like summer.  It has been so breezy cool here, like 60 degrees.  I seriously felt like it was still the school year and not summer.  BUT it started warming up yesterday and is 80 degrees today. Time to pull out those skirts and dresses! I swear, I could live in dresses.  Oh, btw, my date went really well :)

http://missindiedesigns.blogspot.com/2010/05/weekly-obsession-cute-closets.html

So, this song is really folky, lots of acoustic instruments, natural lyrics, multiple harmonies.  I like folk, not country. This is folk.  I wish it was a little longer though.

The season comes and goes
To leave us where we froze
Growing with the trees
Dying with the leaves
All is well that ends well

Can we ever change
Dancing in the rain
Springtime drums our soul
Summer burns us whole again
All is well that ends well

I Think I Like U 2- Jamaica

"Tell me more and I'll try so hard"

I have a date tonight, the first date I should say.  I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit nervous.  I really hate first dates.  They can be so awkward especially after the date when they walk you to the door and you don't know if they are going to try to kiss you.  I hate that part.  But, I've been talking to the boy all week so maybe this date will be really natural.  Let's hope so.

http://artofmanliness.com/2009/12/13/road-map-to-the-perfect-first-date/
This song is so catchy.  It was a free download of of Fuse's website so I was pretty happy for that. Gotta love that free music.  Seriously, who can't be moving in their seat when they hear this.   It has a great bass line.  Bout time someone features the bass.

I see him smile and I would never have to leave him
My friends say i should never have to make things clear
I think I like u 2 I think I like u 2
so tell me whats next, I think I like u 2

Now is the time when I'm trying
Tell me more and I'll try so hard
We could stay here for a long time
I'm not likely to forget but I don't know your name
We shook hands but I don't remember when.

I know you like me 2
I know you like me 2
so I tell you what's next
I know you like me 2

Now is the time when I'm trying
Tell me more and I'll try so hard
We could stay here for a long time

She was never pretty she was only young
She was never pretty she was only young
She was never pretty she was only young

Now is the time when I'm trying
Tell me more and I'll try so hard
We could stay here for a long time
Now is the time when I'm trying
Tell me more and I'll try so hard
We could stay here for a long time

Kiss From a Rose- Seal

"Love remained a drug that's the high and not a pill"

I was looking on Amazon hoping that maybe there would be some free music I could buy since I am so broke that I can't even buy a $4 album.  And today's deal was Seal's self-titled album for $4.  I didn't buy it but it was very tempting.  Probably not as tempting as when Best Coast's latest album was $4.  That one killed me to not buy....oh, well.

http://www.nicolekidmanunited.com/NicoleKidmanFilmography/filmBatmanForever1995.html
I remember this song when I was growing up.  You know, practically the theme song to the amazing 90s Batman movies.  Love it.  But, other than that, it is still a really great song.  My favorite part is the bridge with the different voices almost making a choral sound.  Sort of like a fugue.  Really awesome.

There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea
You became the light on the dark side of me
Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill
But did you know
That when it snows
My eyes become large and
The light that you shine can be seen

Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray
Ooh
The more I get of you
The stranger it feels, yeah
And now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the gray

There is so much a man can tell you
So much he can say
You remain
My power, my pleasure, my pain, baby
To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby?
But did you know
That when it snows
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen

Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray
Ooh, the more I get of you
The stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the gray

I've been kissed by a rose on the gray
I've been kissed by a rose
I've been kissed by a rose on the gray
...And if I should fall along the way
I've been kissed by a rose
...been kissed by a rose on the gray

There is so much a man can tell you
So much he can say
You remain
My power, my pleasure, my pain
To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny, yeah
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby
But did you know
That when it snows
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen

Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray
Ooh, the more I get of you
The stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the gray
Yes I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray
Ooh, the more I get of you
The stranger it feels, yeah
And now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the gray
Now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the gray

Riverman- Nick Drake

"Betty said she prayed today for the sky to blow away or maybe stay"

I have finally been able to sleep in.  First time this summer.  It felt good.  Other than that, I am planning to go to my old high school's orchestra concert.  My old orchestra teacher is retiring.  So sad.  She taught me everything about the violin.  I think she had the most faith in me when playing.

http://www.violinslover.com/violins4_4rareart.php
Some of the best orchestrations I have ever heard is in any of Nick Drake's songs.  He really was one of the most talented artists of our time.  Such a shame that he died so young.  Riverman has beautiful orchestrations.  Each section is featured and with gorgeous harmonies.  All the minor-major transitions are so smooth and natural.  It is so beautiful.

Betty came by on her way
Said she had a word to say
About things today
And fallen leaves.

Said she hadn't heard the news
Hadn't had the time to choose
A way to lose
But she believes.

Gonna see the river man
Gonna tell him all I can
About the plan
For lilac time.

If he tells me all he knows
'bout the way his river flows
And all night shows
In summertime.

Betty said she prayed today
For the sky to blow away
Or maybe stay
She wasn't sure.

For when she thought of summer rain
Calling for her mind again
She lost the pain
And stayed for more.

Gonna see the river man
Gonna tell him all I can
'bout the ban
On feeling free.

If he tells me all he knows
About the way his river flows
I don't suppose
It's meant for me.

Oh, how they come and go
Oh, how they come and go

You Gotta Be- Des'ree

"Herald what your mother said"

I hung out with my friends who I used to go to college with me today.  I rarely see them since we live in two different cities so I jumped on that opportunity.  We went to taco bell (always a staple in our diet) and then played in the local park on the swings.  It was nice feeling like a kid again swinging.  I really miss those days.  Innocence is a precious thing.

http://www.shirleyreade.com/Gallery/Children/TheTireSwing.html
When I think of my childhood, the best song that brings me back is You Gotta Be.  I don't know what it is but when I listen to it I just have that feeling again, that feeling of innocence, contentment, hope, simplicity.  It's something about the piano line.  When it starts, I am instantly 4 years old again, riding in the van with my mom, and singing.

Listen as your day unfolds
Challenge what the future holds
Try and keep your head up to the sky
Lovers, they may cause you tears
Go ahead release your fears
Stand up and be counted
Don't be ashamed to cry

You gotta be
You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard
You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm
You gotta stay together
All I know, all I know, love will save the day

Herald what your mother said
Readin' the books your father read
Try to solve the puzzles in your own sweet time
Some may have more cash than you
Others take a different view
My oh my heh, hey

You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard
You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm
You gotta stay together
All I know, all I know, love will save the day

Don't ask no questions, it goes on without you
Leaving you behind if you can't stand the pace
The world keeps on spinning
You can't stop it, if you try to
This time it's danger staring you in the face
Oh oh oh Remember

Listen as your day unfolds
Challenge what the future holds
Try and keep your head up to the sky
Lovers, they may cause you tears
Go ahead release your fears
My oh my heh, hey, hey

You gotta be
You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard
You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm
You gotta stay together
All I know, all I know, love will save the day

You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard
You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm
You gotta stay together
All I know, all I know, love will save the day
