Sun Hands- Local Natives

"My hands are blessed to have touched the sun"

I downloaded Local Natives' Gorilla Manor album the other day and it is by far one the best albums I have ever heard.  It is up there with Jeff Buckley's Grace.  That's pretty good in my book.  They are so amazing.  I want to see them live so bad now! Oh, btw, you may be wondering why I don't have a song or post for saturday (or you probably don't care enough to notice.) Funny thing, I switched to the "new blogger template" thingy and I apparently didn't click post when I was done writing it.  My bad.

Sun hands is my absolute favorite on this album.  Airplanes is second.  But, I actually discovered Sun Hands almost 2 years ago.  It was a free download from emusic and I have loved it ever since.  AND NOW I HAVE THE ALBUM!  I really love the catchy tunes, the emotion, the lead singer's voice, the harmonies, and the great percussion and orchestrations on this album.  I am absolutely in love.

I climbed to the top of a hill
but I had just missed the sun
and although the descending arc was gone
left behind were the traces that always follow along

The most beautiful colors chase the sun
They wrap her trail in a taunting gesture
that seems to sing out loud
"This is what you're missing"
I'll endure the night
for the promise of light
I'll endure the night
for the promise of light

I want to lift my hands towards the sun
Show me warmth
Baby, won't you show me warmth again?
And when I can feel with my sun hands
I'll promise not to lose her again
and even if the morning never comes
my hands are blessed to have touched the sun, the sun
I'll endure the night
for the promise of light
I'll endure the night
for the promise of

And when I can feel with my sun hands
I promise not to lose her again
And when I can feel with my sun hands
I promise not to lose her again
And when I can feel with my sun hands
I promise not to lose her again
And when I can feel with my sun hands
I promise not to lose her again

I'll endure the night
for the promise of light
I'll endure the night
for the promise of

My Apology- The Get Up Kids (Plus Regretful Review of Past Weeks)

"My once photographic memory for recollection's sake is failing me"

I am so sorry. I am a horrible blogger.  My life has been swamped with class and work and taking care of mom BUT I'm done with my class and I'm not working much anymore (new grocery store opened nearby) and mom is back to pretty much normal so I'm back! And I promise I will not be this bad again.

I love The Get Up Kids.  They are from my neck of the woods, represent. But, anywho, they really are just a good ol' alternative band.  This song kind of sums up everything.  Literally, I forgot to do this blog because I was busy.  SO SORRY

You'll be accepting my apology for taking things too seriously
Sometimes I'm old enough to to keep routines
sometimes I'm child enough to scream
for everything I broke in two
You're barely missing me, I'm missing you and everything you do
I really do, I really do, sure I do

My once photographic memory for recollection's sake is failing me
I can't remember for the life of me

Sometimes I can think to recite words that I read and rewrite
my pens paint people that I've proven wrong
Sometimes I can think to recite words that I read and rewrite
my pens paint people that I've proven wrong
But we move on

Get a job where I can tell all of my accounts of someone else
I'm quick enough to judge that they were wrong and that we knew it all along
sing a long, long-winded song I would be content to hum along

If I state that my fingers know where to show what everyone should have known
I'll let it go
Hopefully you'll forget that words that I put in print
my luck, you'll change and have strength enough to walk away

Sometimes I can think to recite words that I read and rewrite
my pens paint people that I've proven wrong
Sometimes I can think to recite words that I read and rewrite
my pens paint people that I've proven wrong
But we move on
Sometimes I can think to recite words that I read and rewrite
my pens paint people that I've proven wrong
Sometimes I can think to recite words that I read and rewrite
my pens paint people that I've proven wrong
