Night Watch- Tegan and Sara

"I've got grounds for recourse"

There was a point today where I was about to go insane. I'm doing much better now but for a while there I was about to blow up on anyone.  I didn't get much sleep, I was helping mom, which is understandable, but still frustrating.  Also, my dad came in really late to see my mom, and when he got here, he was badgering her with questions and wouldn't leave her alone to just rest.  He tends to panic.  So, I was really getting on my last nerve.  Luckily, I went to lunch and felt better, got away for a while.

For some reason, I always get Tegan and Sara confused with Shiny Toy Guns.  I guess it's the fact that they have girl singers.  But, overall, I like Tegan and Sara much better.

I've got grounds for divorce
It's in my blood this divorce
I seperate everybody, I need distance from your body
Oh I deserve this anguish on my house

So get away, you cannot follow me
I get away, you cannot follow me
So get away, you cannot follow me
So get away, you cannot follow me
I get away

I've got grounds for recourse
Your lungs fill with discourse
You seperate from my body, you need consistence from somebody
Oh I deserve this angusih on my house

So get away, you cannot follow me
I get away, you cannot follow me
So get away, you cannot follow me
I get away, you cannot follow me
So get away, you cannot follow me
I get away, you cannot follow me
So get away

Lullaby- Shawn Mullins

"She'd be a whole lot prettier if she smiled once in a while"

My mom's surgery went very well, thankfully.  She is doing pretty awesome, a lot better than I did when I had a similar surgery.  She is sleeping a lot. That's the easy part.  Tomorrow is probably not going to be the best though.  Lots of hard steps in recovery.  Well I should get my rest.

http://weheartit.com/tag/sarah%20shoo
This song reminds me of childhood.  It came out when I was pretty young.  But, it is what it says it is, a soothing lullaby.  Love how he kind of talks the verses.

She grew up with the children of the stars
in the Hollywood hills and the boulevard
Her parents threw big parties, everyone was there
They hung out with folks like Dennis Hopper, Bob Seeger, and Sonny and Cher
But she feels safe now in the bar on Fairfax
And from the stage I can tell that she can't let go and she can't relax
And just before she hangs her head to cry,
I sing to her a lullaby

I sing everything's gonna be all right
rockabye, rockabye

She still lives with her mom outside the city
Down that street about a half a mile
And all her friends tell her she's so pretty
But she'd be a whole lot prettier if she smiled once in a while
'cause even her smile looks like a frown
She's seen her share of devils in this angel town

Everything's gonna be all right
rockabye, rockabye

I told her I ain´t so sure about this place
It's hard to play a gig in this town and keep a straight face
Seems like everybody´s got a plan
It's kind of like Nashville with a tan but

Everything's gonna be all right
rockabye, rockabye
Everything's gonna be all right
rockabye, rockabye
bye, bye

King Without a Crown- Matisyahu

"You keep my mind at ease and my soul at rest"

My mom is having a pretty big surgery tomorrow.  It's actually pretty similar to the one I went through actually, but I'm more nervous for her than I was for my own.  I guess it's because she is the most important thing in my life and I can't imagine a life without here if anything happens.  I'm pretty close with my mom can't you tell? lol well anywho, I feel like this surgery is going to go well but I still am a tadbit worried.  I guess we will just have to see.

Matisyahu is so cool!!! A Jewish reggae rapper? Unheard of! SO I needed to find a good uplifting song about putting your faith in God, and this one is pretty much up there.  AH I love reggae.

You're all that I have and you're all that I need
Each and every day I pray to get to know your peace
I want to be close to you, yes I'm so hungry
You're like water for my soul when it gets thirsty
Without you there's no me
You're the air that I breathe
Sometimes the world is dark and I just can't see
With these, demons surround all around to bring me down to negativity
But I believe, yes I believe, I said I believe
I'll stand on my own two feet
Won't be brought down on one knee
Fight with all of my might and get these demons to flee
Hashem's rays fire blaze burn bright and I believe
Hashem's rays fire blaze burn bright and I believe
Out of darkness comes light, twilight unto the heights
Crown Heights burnin' up all through till twilight
Said thank you to my God, now I finally got it right
And I'll fight with all of my heart, and all of my soul, and all of my might

What's this feeling?
My love will rip a hole in the ceiling
I give myself to you from the essence of my being and I
Sing to my god, songs of love and healing
I want Moshiach now, time we start revealing
What's this feeling?
My love will rip a hole in the ceiling
I give myself to you from the essence of my being and I
Sing to my god, songs of love and healing
I want Moshiach now

Strippin’ away the layers and reveal your soul
Got to give yourself up and then you become whole
You're a slave to yourself and you don't even know
You want to live the fast life but your brain moves slow
If you're trying to stay high, bound to stay low
You want God but you can't deflate your ego
If you're already there then there's nowhere to go
If you're cup's already full then its bound to overflow
If you're drowning in the water's and you can't stay afloat
Ask Hashem for mercy, and he'll throw you a rope
You're looking for help from God you say he couldn't be found
Searching up to the sky and looking beneath the ground
Like a King without his Crown
You keep fallin' down
You really want to live but can't get rid of your frown
Tried to reach unto the heights and wound bound down on the ground
Given up your pride and then you heard a sound
Out of night comes day and out of day comes light
Nullified to the One like sunlight in a ray,
Makin' room for his love and a fire gone blaze
Makin' room for his love and a fire gone blaze

What's this feeling?
My love will rip a hole in the ceiling
I give myself to you from the essence of my being and I
Sing to my god, songs of love and healing
I want Moshiach now, time we start revealing
What's this feeling?
My love will rip a whole in the ceiling
I give myself to you from the essence of my being and I
Sing to my god, songs of love and healing
I want Moshiach now

See I lift up my eyes where my help come from
And I seen it circling around from the mountain
Thunder!
You feel it in your chest
You keep my mind at ease and my soul at rest
You're not vexed
Look to the sky where my help come from
Seen it circling around from the mountain
Thunder!
You feel it in your chest
You keep my mind at ease and my soul at rest
You're not vexed

Morning Theft- Jeff Buckley

"Time takes care of the wound so I can believe"

I saw a very close friend today that I thought I had lost forever.  We had a really weird falling out and I truly believed I would never see him again. But I saw him at work and it wasn't awkward at all! Just like the old days.  It's amazing how things can prove you wrong.

http://blog.addictinggames.com/2010/05/top-5-friday-games-my-friends-play/
This song is perfect for my friend and I.  I have always associated this song with him.  It just really fits our situation.  Plus, it is one of my favorite Jeff Buckley songs.  The lyrics are amazing, it is so beautiful.

Time takes care of the wound so I can believe
You had so much to give, you thought I couldn't see
Gifts for boot heels to crush, promises deceived
I had to send it away to bring us back again
Your eyes and body brighten silent waters, deep
Your precious daughter in the other room, asleep
A kiss "Goodnight" from every stranger that I meet
I had to send it away to bring us back again
Morning theft, and pretender left, ungrateful

True self is what brought you here to me
A place where we can accept this love
Friendship battered down by useless history
Unexamined failure

What am I still to you
Some thief who stole from you
Or some fool drama queen whose chances were few
Love brings us to who we need
a place where we can save
A heart that beats as both siphon and reservoir
You're a woman, I'm a calf
You're a window, I'm a knife
We come together making chance into starlight

Meet me tomorrow night, or any day you want
I have no right to wonder just how, or when
And though the meaning fits, there's no relief in this
I miss my beautiful friend
I had to send it away to bring her back again

Tick of Time- The Kooks

"Get off this situation and feel fine"

So, I was listening to the Konk album by the Kooks the other day and it made me totally fall right back into love with them.  I think they are so underrated.  They are a great band.  Yeah, sure, sometimes their lyrics are a little lacking, but their melodies and musical directions are so catchy and great.  I really miss hearing from them. Apparently, they have another album coming out this fall.  Hopefully, it will be great.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/moslive/article-463714/The-Kooks-Like-rolling-stone.html
This song is my favorite on the album.  It's really simple with only a few instruments but it's really catchy.  I think there are two singers in this which makes it even more interesting.  I really want to do this song in my band.

Oh honey please, don't shed no tears
As long as im here

It's far too early in the morning to be trying to call you
And far too early in the daytime to be thinking about that

But I, (but I), but I, (but I), but I am

What did I do in a past life, oh to deserve this
Yeah the way I make myself
He's far too innocent to be a part of such a cruel world
And it is, and it is and it is

And so I'll go, yes I'll go, so I'll take that train and ride
Hoping I can write her a rhyme, that might stop the tick of time
Get off this situation and feel fine
Get off this situation and feel fine

What did I do to deserve her love
I have to ask myself
When I am such a bad man but only to her (only to her, only, only to her)

Oh and so I'll go, yes I'll go, so I'll take that train and ride
Oh and so I'll go, yes I'll go, so I'll take that train and ride
Wishing, hoping I can write her a rhyme, that might stop the tick of time
Get off this situation and feel fine
Get off this situation and feel fine

What Will You Say?- Jeff Buckley

"I can feel my time crawling to a slow end"

So, the verdict is in, Penn Badgley will be playing Jeff in the biopic.  I don't really know how I feel about it.  I mean, I'm happy it's not Robert Pattinson, only because I don't want this movie to be famous just because a heartthrob is starring in it.  That might take away from the whole point of the movie.  But, I have no idea how Penn Badgley will do.  He seems super psyched for it, I guess that's a good sign.  We will just have to see. I'm a little upset about the storyline though.  It's of his life up to the concert in honor of his dad, Greetings from Tim Buckley. Actually, that is also the title of the movie.  I wanted the movie to be more about Grace, I mean, his dad didn't really care about him, why should we name Jeff's biopic about someone who didn't care for Jeff. Seems a little off.  Also, there seems to be another biopic in the works, by Jake Scott and produced by Jeff's mom.  I think Reeve Carney should be up for it.  He sounds just like Jeff.  OR James Franco, the original contender.  Oh, and I also heard that the musical The Last Goodbye which is like Romeo and Juliet but with JBuck music may be heading to Broadway.   Why the recent trend in JBuck?  It's not like his legacy hasn't been around for the past 15 years.  I'm a little concerned for all this attention.  It's great that he is finally getting recognized for his genius, but I don't want him to becom a franchise.  He is too good for that, and wouldn't have wanted that.

http://www.thisheartsonfire.com/?p=2682
This is a great song, just like all his other songs.  I really like it though because it mentions his mother and father.  It's one of the only songs that really address his issues with his dad Tim Buckley.  Plus, the note progressions are amazing.  Great song.

It's been such a long time
And I was just a child then
What will you say
When you see my face?
Time feels like it's flown away
The days just pass and fade away
What will you say
When they take my place?

It's funny now
I just don't feel like I'm a man
What will you say
When you see my face?
My face

Mother dear, the world's gone cold
No one cares about love anymore
What will you say
When you see my face?

Father do you hear me?
Do you know me?
Do you even care?
What will you say
When they take my place?

My heart can't take this anymore
What will you say
When you see my face?
When you see my
See my face

I can feel your time crawling
To a slow end
I can feel my time crawling
To a slow end

Mother dear, the world's gone cold
No one cares about love anymore
What will you say
When you see my face?

Father do you hear me?
Do you know me?
Did you even care?
What will you say
When you take my place?

Well it's so funny now
I just don't feel like I'm a man
What will you say?

Bluebird- Sara Bareilles

"Was glad at the time that I'd said I was fine, but all honesty knows, I wasn't ready"

I was reminiscing today when look at pictures from a few months ago.  Funny how that happens sometimes.  I think sometimes it's possible that God sends you messages through music when you are thinking of something.  I was listening to my windows media player, not itunes (I think apple is a conspiracy, don't get me started) and this perfect song came up when I was reminiscing.  I got the hint.

http://www.christianhand.org/photo.html
This song is so precious. And I like that it's really hopeful.  Most songs about reminiscing are really somber and always wish to go back to the "old days" but this song accepts that it's time to let it go.  Also, her voice is so pretty. Love her.

Word came through in a letter
One of us changing our minds
You won't need to guess who, since I usually do
Not send letters to me that are mine

Told you I saw this coming
That I'd practically packed up my things
Was glad at the time that I'd said I was fine but
All honesty knows, I wasn't ready, no

And so here we go bluebird
Back to the sky on your own
Oh let him go bluebird
Ready to fly
You and I
Here we go
Here we go

This pair of wings worn and rusted
Like a carnival ride in the rain
They can carry me swear to be
Sturdy and strong but see
Turning them on still causes me pain

Leave my love in a letter
Went to the best on your side
Fine gathered my things, I'll make the best of these wings
And me and my bird take to the sky

And so here we go bluebird
Gather your strength and rise up
Oh let him go bluebird
Oh let him go bluebird
Oh let him go bluebird
Ready to fly
You and I
Here we go
Here we go
