Doubt- Delphic

"What you say is what will go"

SO, my life is pretty hectic right now.  There may be long pauses between each post.  Sorry.  Anywho, doubt is an evil thing.  And so is distrust.  Distrust is the most toxic poison.  I have major trust issues, and often doubt peoples' relationships with me merely because I don't allow enough trust to have confidence in their feelings.  It's something I'm trying to work out.  Little improvement are better than nothing.

http://www.pragia.cz/english-home/meetings-and-incentive/teambuilding-activities/
I'm usually not into techno-electronic stuff but the chorus in this song is just catchy.  Plus, the ah-eh-oh-oh part is kinda cool, I guess.

Wanting meaning, wanting more than the same things
Wanting everything, just to start at the ending
I found another face to show
Just because what you say is what will go

Doubt, in it all for me
I've hit the wall, all that's left for you is doubt
Better you than me, I've so far to fall
All that's left for you is doubt
In it all for me, I've hit the wall that's left for you is doubt
Better you than me, I've so far to fall, but I can't change now

Missing the life gone by that I have lost
I'm missing the better times that I had lost
When you're near me I get tired when you follow
When you speak what you say is what will go, will go
What you say is what will go

Doubt, in it all for me
I've hit the wall, all that's left for you is doubt
Better you than me, I've so far to fall
All that's left for you is doubt
In it all for me, I've hit the wall that's left for you is doubt
Better you than me, I've so far to fall, but I can't change now

Doubt, in it all for me
I've hit the wall, all that's left for you is doubt
Better you than me, I've so far to fall
All that's left for you is doubt
In it all for me, I've hit the wall that's left for you is doubt
Better you than me, I've so far to fall, but I can't change now

Elusive- Scott Matthews

"In her mind, I'm proud to roam"

I am absolutely in love with this guy.  He is like a mix between Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, and Ray Lamontagne.  So great.  I can't believe I have never heard of him before.  He is so amazing.

http://www.artistdirect.com/artist/scott-matthews/464635

This song is so beautiful.  Great lyrics, amazing falsetto, simple accompaniment.  I am seriously in love.

She's a gambler spinning wheels
The poisoned victim a look of steel
The coldest heart you've ever felt
The coldest hands you've ever held

Ticking down on her way
A million miles still no headway
Has her love truly blown
In her mind, I'm proud to roam

She's elusive and I'm awake
Defiantly real, there's nothing fake
A mystery now to me and you
Open my eyes as I'm next to you
She says my destiny lies in the hands that set me free

A wreckless night she hears me breathe
Cursing the skies of this company
You've lost the wisdom deep inside
Her bitterness shows its eye

If it's true, I am doomed.
What more is there, to hold on to
A strand of hair is all I own
A gift to me, this sorry soul

She's elusive and I'm awake,
Defiantly real, there's nothing fake
A mystery now to me and you
I open my eyes as I'm next to you
She says my destiny, lies in the hands that set me free

Something says this ain't right
There's more to her than meets the eye
She comes and goes at any time
Back in my head til another time

She's elusive and I'm awake
defiantly real, there's nothing fake
A mystery now to me and you
I open my eyes as I'm next to you
She says my destiny, lies in the hands that set me free

Lucky Star- Madonna

"I'm the luckiest by far"

I went out to a Halloween party last night.  Got pretty drunk, again, even though I said I wouldn't. Curses.  But, anywho, I went as Madonna, my idol.  And I must say, I looked freaking awesome! Probably one of my fav costumes of all time.

http://www.rad80sfashion.com/80s_theme_party_invitations.htm

Lucky star isn't my favorite Madonna song, but it's the one I think of relating to her image at that time.  I went as the early, 80s Madonna with the lace and pearls and crosses.  Pretty easy costume....and comfy.

You must be my lucky star
Cause you shine on me wherever you are
I just think of you and I start to glow
And I need your light
And baby you know

Starlight, star bright first star I see tonight
Starlight, make everything all right
Starlight, star bright first star I see tonight
Starlight, star bright, yeah

You must be my lucky star
Cause you make the darkness seem so far
And when I’m lost you’ll be my guide
I just turn around and you’re by my side

Starlight, star bright first star I see tonight
Starlight, make everything all right
Starlight, star bright first star I see tonight
Starlight, star bright, yeah

Come on shine your heavenly body tonight
Cause I know you’re gonna make everything all right
Come on shine your heavenly body tonight
Cause I know you’re gonna make everything all right

You may be my lucky star
But I’m the luckiest by far
You may be my lucky star
But I’m the luckiest by far

Starlight, star bright first star I see tonight
Starlight, make everything all right
Starlight, star bright first star I see tonight
Starlight, star bright, yeah

Come on shine your heavenly body tonight
Cause I know you’re gonna make everything all right
Come on shine your heavenly body tonight
Cause I know you’re gonna make everything all right

You may be my lucky star, I’m the luckiest by far
You may be my lucky star, I’m the luckiest by far
You may be my lucky star
You may be my lucky star
I’m the luckiest by far
What you do to me, baby
You know you may be my lucky star
But I’m the luckiest by far

Starlight, star bright first star I see tonight
Starlight, make everything all right
Starlight, star bright first star I see tonight
Starlight, star bright

Starlight, star bright
You make everything all right
What you do to me, baby
You’ve got to stay by my side tonight

Starlight, star bright, starlight, star bright
Starlight, star bright, starlight, star bright
Starlight, star bright, baby
Starlight, star bright
Stay by my side tonight
What you do to me, baby
What you do, what you do to me, baby
Stay by my side tonight

You may be my lucky star

Sing- The Dresden Dolls

"Sing for the teachers who told you that you couldn't sing"

I got a solo in choir!!!! BAHHHHH! Omg, it has been since senior year of high school since I have had a solo.  I used to be known as "the singer".  I sang in all state choir, got the best scores at solo competitions, got the lead in the school musicals, and got the solos in choir class.......then gave it all up when I got to college.  I kind of gave up on my dreams.  You see, ever since I was a little kid, I always wanted to be a singer.   And then, when I realized that was a hard profession to get into, I gave up.  I really stopped singing.  But, then this year, I realized I was really unhappy without singing.  So, I got back into it.  And look where it got me!!!

http://mute.rigent.com/index.php?ladat=2007-07-26

I loved this song when I came out.  We found it kinda funny because of the lyrics are a little out there.  But the overall message is just to sing.  I've always found singing to be so therapeutic.

There is this thing that's like touching except you don't touch
Back in the day it just went without saying at all
All the world's history gradually dying of shock
There is this thing it's like talking except you don't talk
You sing
You sing

Sing for the bartender sing for the janitor sing
Sing for the cameras sing for the animals sing
Sing for the children shooting the children sing
Sing for the teachers who told you that you couldn't sing
Just sing

There is thing keeping everyone's lungs and lips locked
It is called fear and it's seeing a great renaissance
After the show you can not sing wherever you want
But for now let's just pretend we're all gonna get bombed
So sing

Sing cause its obvious sing for the astronauts sing
Sing for the president sing for the terrorists sing
Sing for the soccer team sing for the janjuweed sing
Sing for the kid with the phone who refuses to sing
Just sing

Life is no cabaret
We're inviting you anyway

You motherfuckers you'll sing someday
You motherfuckers you'll sing someday
You motherfuckers you'll sing someday

Turn that Heartbeat Over Again- Steely Dan

"You know my reputation for playing a good clean game"

I'm nervous.  Really nervous.  Big event happening tonight.  Could go really bad or really well.  I need to relax.

http://www.sodahead.com/living/hand-shaking-medieval-what-should-replace-the-handshake/question-372155/?link=ibaf&q=hand+shake&imgurl=http://images.sodahead.com/polls/000372155/polls_hand_shake_2329_127196_answer_4_xlarge.gif

I kind of have a love-hate relationship with Steely Dan.  My dad has constantly played their music around the house since I can remember, which made them get on my nerves.  But, they kind of remind me of my childhood, which makes me happy.  Weird feeling towards this band.

The plan was set the plan was done
Looked at my watch and started for the door
Now the food here ain't so good no more
And they closed the package store
Love your mama, love your brother
Love 'em til they run for cover
Turn the light off, keep your shirt on
Cry a jag on me

Oh Michael, oh Jesus you know I'm not to blame
You know my reputation for playing a good clean game
Oh Michael, oh Jesus I'll keep my promise when
You turn that heartbeat over again

My poison's named you know my brand
So please make mine a double, Sam
Stir it up nice I'll eat it right here
This highway runs from Paraguay
And I've just come all the way
Love your mama, love your brother
Love 'em til they run for cover
Turn the light off, keep your shirt on
Cry a jag on me

Oh Michael, oh Jesus you know I'm not to blame
You know my reputation for playing a good clean game
Oh Michael, oh Jesus I'll keep my promise when
You turn that heartbeat over again

We warned the corpse of William Wright
Not to cuss and drink all night
Ticket in hand we saw him laid to rest
But zombie see and zombie do
He's here with me and you

Love your mama, love your brother
Love 'em til they run for cover
Turn the light off, keep your shirt on
Cry a jag on me

Oh Michael, oh Jesus you know I'm not to blame
You know my reputation for playing a good clean game
Oh Michael, oh Jesus I'll keep my promise when
You turn that heartbeat over again

Don't Think Twice, It's All Right- Bob Dylan

"I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul"

Instead of dwelling on the issue at hand, I'm just going to act like it's not a problem.  It will become a problem when appropriate.  I can't prevent that.  But, I can enjoy what we have now, and see what happens from it.   I trust that God will not let me be in pain.

http://www.anxietyguru.net/not-thinking-too-hard-is-good/

This is one of my favorite Bob Dylan songs.  It's really sweet.  I'm kind of hit and miss with him.  I overall like him, but every once and a while, I can't stand his folky tunes.  But, this one is great.

It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
even you don’t know by now
And it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It’ll never do some how
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm traveling on
Don't think twice, it's all right

It ain't no use in turning on your light, babe
That light I never known
An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road
but I wish there was something you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talking anyway
So don't think twice, it's all right

It ain't no use in calling out my name, gal
Like you never done before
It ain't no use in calling out my name, gal
I can't hear you any more
I'm thinking and wondering walking down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don't think twice, it's all right

So long, honey babe
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
But goodbye's too good a word, babe
So I'll just say fare thee well
I ain't saying you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right

Sweet Thing- Jeff Buckley

"Pretty babe, I will not remember that I even felt pain"

My boyfriend just delivered some potentially bad news.  I could really take some ice cream now.  Or anything to eat away my emotions.....seems soy milk will do the trick.

http://stuffofawesome.com/please-don-039-t-leave-me-1310407208-5180.jpg.html

Leave it to Jeff Buckley to both calm me and pull at my heart strings.  I think this song is so beautiful.  One of my favorite of his. I understand it is a Van Morrison song, but Jeff really makes it his own.

And I will stroll the merry way and jump the hedges first
And I will drink the clear clean water for to quench my thirst
And I shall watch the ferry-boats and they'll get high
On a bluer ocean against tomorrow's sky
And I will never, ever grow so old again
And we will walk and talk in gardens all misty wet with rain
Oh sweet thing, sweet thing
Oh my, well
Sweet thing

And I will drive my chariot down your streets and cry
Well, it's me, I'm dynamite and I don't know why
And you will hold me strongly in your arms again
Pretty babe, I will not remember that I even felt the pain
And we will walk and talk in gardens all misty wet with rain
And I will never, ever grow so old again.
Oh sweet thing
Oh my sweet thing, sweet thing

And I will raise my hand up into the midnight sky
And count all the lights that shining in your eye
Just to dig it all and not to question well that's just fine
Just to dig it all and never wonder well that’s just fine
And I'll be satisfied not to read between the lines

And we will walk and talk in gardens all misty wet with rain
We will, someday
And we, you and me, walk and talk in gardens all misty wet with rain
You and me, we will walk
and talk in gardens all misty wet with rain
And we shall walk in gardens all misty wet with rain
And we shall walk in gardens all misty wet with rain
We shall walk and talk in gardens all misty wet with rain
And we will never, ever grow so old again.
Oh sweet thing, oh sweet thing
Sweet, oh you know we will, oh you know we will

Remember the day when I held your hand
The look in my eyes only you can understand
Remember when we held each other soft and low
How nothing could ever be that strong
Sleep tonight with dreams as sweet as angels wing
Your dreams will bring you sweeter things
Sweet sweet sweet thing, oh sweet thing
Don’t, don’t, don’t you cry
Come here and let me tell you, let me tell you how much I love you
Sweet thing, oh sweet thing
Oh sweet thing, oh sweet thing

You know we will walk and talk in gardens all misty wet with rain
And will never grow so old again
Oh sweet thing
sweet sweet thing, sweet thing, sweet thing
Oh my sweet thing

What's the World Got in Store- Wilco

"Take your head off your feet, honey"

My local grocery store sucks.  Seriously, I couldn't find anything that I need today.  I guess that's what you get from living in a small town.  They didn't even have Halloween cupcake paper flutes!!

Grocery Shopping, Ralph Bijker

http://www.suite101.com/view_image_articles.cfm/435060
Wilco is pretty great.  This song especially.  Folky but kind of jazzy.  Really love it.

Take your head off your feet, honey
Cause you've been working hard and I know you're tired
You been trying hard not to think I'm a liar

What's the world got in store
What's the world got in store for you
What's the world got in store for you now
Come on baby somehow, I need you

Do I have to show you how, baby
I'm not trying to knock you out, or was it about
I just now you need your rest I can't say what's best for you
You been working hard and I know you're tired
I've been trying hard not to feel like a liar

What's the world got in store
What's the world got in store for you
What's the world got in store for you now

What's the world got in store
What's the world got in store for you
What's the world got in store for you now

Once Upon a Time- Smashing Pumpkins

"To wipe a mother's tears grown cold"

It is Homecoming weekend! Yay, love it.  Yesterday was walkout day, went out the night before and didn't get back to my place until 4 in the afternoon....without eating....whoops.  Then, went to the Sorority/Frat variety show last night and got up early for the parade.  We won the game! Like always.

http://www.hometowninvasion.com/photo/minnesota/white-bear-lake-homecoming-game
Smashing Pumpkins are greeaaaatttt.  Oh, also, the name of this song was the theme to our Homecoming this year.

Mother I'm tired
come surrender my son
Time has ravaged on my soul
No plans to leave but still I go

Fallin' with the leaves
fallin' out of sleep
to the last goodbyes
Who cares why?

Mother I've tried
wasting my life
I haven't given up, I lie
to make you so proud in my eyes

Fallin' out of sleep
crawlin' over me
to the last goodbyes
Who cares why?

Tuesdays come and gone
Restless I still drive
Try to leave it all behind

Fallin', fallin' out of sleep
Fallin', fallin' with the leaves
I go crawling, crawling over me

Once upon a time in my life
I went falling

Mother I hope you know
that I miss you so
Time has ravaged on my soul
To wipe a mother's tears grown cold

Lost Long Shot- The New Amsterdams

"I'd rather be foolish than be scared of my own mistakes"

I give up on my fantasy team.  Seriously.  The Apathetic Team (my team name last year) is back in action. Or lack there of.

http://www.notsosilentmommy.com/2011_02_01_archive.html#axzz1b6eRZMwh
Leave it to the New Amsterdams to create a good folky song that will make you feel better when losing something!

You’ve got a world wide face
And I’ve been away for a year
I’ll hide it in someplace safe
Where even the spies don’t hear
I’ve been a lost long shot
A prodigal son by trade
Somehow the words won’t stop
Even when deals are made

Time and space
We can be distant
Running a different race
And nobody really wins
And only the fools rush in
And only the frightened wait
I’d rather be foolish than
Be scared of my own mistakes

Sorry can't find a video of this!

In a Win, Win Situation- Emery

"Just between the rock and paper"

I'm set to watch the football games today.  Seriously, my fantasy team better not dissappoint me.  I have a lot of pride in winning.

http://www.buzzsugar.com/tag/Fantasy-Football
This song is a little soft for my taste, but I really like the chorus.  The dude actually has a pretty soothing voice.

I've noticed your design
Cause I'm not blind
I'm like a cigarette
Burning burning every night
But there's no ash that falls
There's only telephone calls in the afternoon
Stretching through a thousand walls

So I'll pray
For words to say
To make these miles disappear

If you can't sleep alone
I'm better off
I'm better off
If you can't sleep alone

If you're measuring with time
In seconds or in lifetimes
There's no difference
It's constantly just passing by
But there's nothing at all
No valium or slow songs
To relax my view
Just you, maybe your new perfume

So I'll pray
For words to say
To make these miles disappear

If you can't sleep alone
I'm better off
I'm better off
If you can't hear the song
Then turn it off
Then turn if off
If you cast that first stone
Then throw them all
Then throw them all

I start to sleep but it's not over
The second hand is moving slower now
I'd take it all back
To start over again
Just between the rock and paper
The scissors cut in so much deeper
I'd take it all back
To start over again

Lust for Life- Iggy Pop

"I'm worth a million in prizes"

So sorry guys. Life has been wonderfully hectic lately.  A lot has been going on, I am super duper uper happy and will share with you later......

http://www.canstockphoto.com/images-photos/hand-up.html

Who isn't happy when they hear this song?  Well, actually, I take that back.  I sadly think of car commercials when I hear this or vacation spots in the bahamas.  Dumb advertising.  BUT it still sums up what I feel!

Here comes Johnny Yen again
With the liquor and drugs
And the flesh machine
He's gonna do another strip tease

Hey man, where'd you get that lotion?
I've been hurting since I've bought the gimmick
about something called love
Yeah, something called love
Well, that's like hypnotizing chickens
Well, I'm just a modern guy
Of course, I've had it in the ear before
I have a lust for life
Cause of a lust for life

I'm worth a million in prizes
With my torture film
Drive a GTO
Wear a uniform all on a government loan
I'm worth a million in prizes
Yeah, I'm through with sleeping on the sidewalk
No more beating my brains
No more beating my brains
With liquor and drugs
With liquor and drugs

Well, I'm just a modern guy
Of course, I've had it in my ear before
Well, I've a lust for life
Cause of a lust for life
I got a lust for life
Got a lust for life
Oh, a lust for life
Oh, a lust for life
A lust for life
I got a lust for life
Got a lust for life
Well, I'm just a modern guy
Of course, I've had it in my ear before
Well, I've a lust for life
Cause I've a lust for life

Here comes Johnny Yen again
With the liquor and drugs
And the flesh machine I know
He's gonna do another strip tease

Hey man, where'd ya get that lotion?
Your skin starts itching once you buy the gimmick
about something called love
Love, love, love
Well, that's like hypnotizing chickens
Well, I'm just a modern guy
Of course, I've had it in the ear before
And I've a lust for life
Cause I've a lust for life
Got a lust for life
Yeah, a lust for life
I got a lust for life
A lust for life
Got a lust for life
Yeah a lust for life
I got a lust for life
Lust for life
Lust for life
Lust for life
Lust for life
Lust for life

Battle of Who Could Care Less- Ben Folds Five

"You're my hero, I confess"

I just bought the Ben Folds Whatever and Ever Amen album online for 4 bucks! Hellz yeah! Plus, it's great to have the album I was orginally supposed to have when I bought this at Vintage Stock (check past posts).  And I must say, it is great.  Makes me love Ben Folds even more.

http://music-wallpapers.net/view_ben_folds_five_1024x768.html
This is my favorite song on this album.  It's really funky because of the chord progressions.  Pretty great song.  So catchy.

Do you not hear me anymore
I know it's not your thing to care
I know it's cool to be so bored
But it sucks me in when you're aloof
It sucks me in, it sucks, it works
I guess it's cool to be alone

Will you never rest
fighting the battle of who could care less?
Every day you wake up late
Sometimes I wish I was that way

And you think Rockford Files is cool
But there are some things
that you would change
if it were up to you
So think about your masterpiece
Watch the Rockford Files and
Call to see if Paul can score some weed

Do you never rest
fighting the battle of who could care less?
 Unearned unhappiness
That's alright I guess

I've got this great idea
Why don't we pitch it to the
Franklin fucking Mint?
Fine pewter portraits of
General Apathy and Major Boredom singing
Whatever and ever amen
Oh well, maybe not
I'll try again
This should cheer you up for sure
See I've got your old I.D.
and you're all dressed up like the Cure

You'll never rest
fighting the battle of who could care less
Unearned unhappiness
You're my hero, I confess

I Think Ur a Contra- Vampire Weekend

"Never pick sides, never choose between two, but I just wanted you"

I saw my ex (not the creepy one) for the first time since we broke up today at the football game.  It was weird that I kept running into him, especially since I haven't seen him since March.  It was an awkward convo, but nice and friendly.  Short and sweet.  Before he left, he said call me.  I don't know if he means that.  Should I call him? To give you some background, he was the first guy I ever fell in love with.  We hit it off immediately, then he broke it off a few months later unexpectedly saying he didn't have enough time to date.  A week before that, he was making plans for our summer together.

http://idiva.com/news-relationships/9-signs-you-are-not-over-your-ex/2247
This was my breakup song with this guy.  Pretty much sums up everything.  I think he was a contra and that he lied.  And it still hurts to this day.

I had a feeling once
that you and I
could tell each other everything
for two months
But even with an oath
with truth on our side
when you turn away from me
it's not right

I think you're a contra
I think you're a contra
I think you're a contra
I think you're a contra

My revolution thoughts
your little arrows of desire
I wanna trace them to the source
and the wire
But it's not useful now
since we both made up our minds
you gotta watch out for yourself
so will I

I think you're contra
I think that you lie
Don't call me contra
till you've tried

You wanted good schools
and friends with pools
You're not a contra
You wanted rock' n' roll,
Complete control
Well, I don't know

Never pick sides
Never choose between two
But I just wanted you
 I just wanted you
Never pick sides
Never choose between two
But I just wanted you
I just wanted you

I think you're Contra
I think that you lie
Don't call me Contra
Till you've tried

A Real Hero- College feat. Electric Youth

"You have proved to be a real human being"

I saw Drive last night and I am in love with it....and even more in love with the soundtrack.  Oh, and Ryan Gosling, he's such a babe.  Anywho, the soundtrack has this awesome 80s vibe with synths and everything.  The movie also is very vintage but really modern.  It's got love, gore, action scenes, awesome camera angles, real character development, extra drawn out awkward silences.  Perfection, I think.  I especially love Goslings' character (who has no name).  He is gentle, subtle, caring but can beat up some ass if need be.  Really great directing and acting.  In love with this movie.

This song was presented during the credits.  It was a little hard to hear over all the people who did not understand the complexity of the movie and were complaining on how it sucked, but still noticable.  Real 80s synth, man.  Fit the movie perfectly.  BAH I LOVE IT

A real human being and a real hero

Back against the wall and ours
With the strength of a willing to cause
A pursuit some called outstanding
Or emotionally complex

Against a grain
Left to stop at claims
Of all the thoughts your actions entertaining
And you have proved to be
A real human being and a real hero

A real human being and a real hero
A real human being and a real hero
A real human being and a real hero
A real human being

A planet on a cold, cold morn’
155 people or more
All safe and all rescued
From the slowly sinking ship

What are warmer than
His head so cool
And type I knew what to do
And you have proved to be
A real human being and a real hero

A real human being and a real hero
A real human being and a real hero
A real human being and a real hero
A real human being and a real hero
A real human being
A real human being
Real human being

All Worked Out- Semisonic

"She's got a long head start on your brain"

I'm starting an awesome work out routine today.  I really need to get in shape.  I'm skinny but as weak as a baby.  Time to buckle down.

http://www.health.com/health/gallery/0,,20331233,00.html
I love this dude's falsetto.  Falsetto is an awesome skill.  Plus, I like the accidental notes.  Kind of remind me of some the Spring Awakening music.  Theater nerd!

She's got it all worked out in her mind
And you're part of the plan
And you don't have the final word

She's got a long head start on your brain
And your heart is afraid
And you don't get to say you're thinking

Come on make it easy now
Come on make it easy on us all
Come on make it easy now or tears may fall

She's got it all worked out I'm afraid
And your time is arranged
And it's strange but you're feeling fine

She's got it all worked out I'm afraid
And your life is arranged
And it's strange but you're feeling fine

I'm Not Sleeping- Counting Crows

"Spend my nights in self defense"

I'm so sleepy. I went out last night and woke up early this morning.  You know that saying that in college you have to choose two out of the three: sleep, good grades, a social life?  Yeah, I choose good grades and a social life.  I can always take naps if need be.

https://www.universitylifecafe.org/bookshelf/sleep-deprivation/
I love the Counting Crows and have fallen madly in love with this song.  They almost sound like Oasis in this.  Love the orchestra, the beatles-esque guitar riffs, and the actual melodic line.  Really great song from the Counting Crows.

She comes to me at night when I'm sleeping
She comes to me when I'm alone
She comes to me, she holds my hand when I'm crying
She comes to me, she shuts my eyes
She brings me home

But I'm not sleeping anymore, anymore
But I'm not sleeping anymore, anymore
She tells me when you look at me, she tells me when you're lying
She tells me when you talk about me, she lays me on the floor
She tells me when you're whispering, she lies beside me naked
She tells me when you laugh at me and she locks all the doors

But I'm not sleeping anymore, anymore
But I'm not sleeping anymore, anymore
1,2,3,4,5,6 a.m.
All alone again
But I've been through all this shit before
Spend my nights in self defense
Cry about my innocence
But I ain't all that innocent anymore, more, more
I see her on the TV, I see her in the movies
I see her in these animals that dance beside my bed
I'll follow you down baby, down into this valley
I'll follow you down baby, but I won't come up again
But I'm not sleeping anymore, anymore
But I'm not sleeping anymore, anymore
I'm not sleeping
I'm not sleeping anymore

I said rain rain go away
come again some other day
cause I got all this shit to say
but I've gone back to find my way
My sister's mother's favorite son
lost among the chosen ones
but I've got news for everyone
cause I've gone out that door

100K- The Loved Ones

"Your eyes are bloodshot from staring at the sun"

Post 100! So exciting! You know what else is exciting???? I'm going out tonight.  Don't worry, it won't be a repeat of last week.

http://karensbooksandchocolate.blogspot.com/2011/05/100-followers-giveaway.html
This song is a good alternative punk song.  I actually had a lot of trouble trying to find a song with 100 in the titile.  Plenty of 99s, but not many 100s.

Are you okay? Are you alright?
Another bad dream kept you up all night
You've ground your teeth down to the gums
Your eyes are bloodshot from staring at the sun
You say you're okay, you're keeping the pace
but the damage done is written all over your face

Given the chance, I'd rather rot in hell
than see you fade, selling the lies they tell
We'll burn the house down and break the spell this time
It's time

So what do you say? We'll go tonight
We'll take a load of bad drugs and stay up all night
We'll ride away, sleep were we fall
We'll slit our own throats, bathe in the waterfall

And I can see it all over your face
You've been numb for days and days
Your back is breaking under the load
Your head is pounding like its ready to explode

Given the chance, I'd rather rot in hell
than see you fade, selling the lies they tell
We'll burn the house down and break the spell this time
It's time

Dig- Incubus

"We all have someone that digs at us"

On August 19, I went Buzz Beach Ball, an alternative music festival in my hometown.  At this concert, I saw The Givers, Middle Class Rut, AWOLNATION, Tom Morello and the Nightwatchmen,Neon Trees, Bush, Jane's Addiction, and my all time favorite band, Incubus.  I was at the very front, one person away from being against the railing, and experienced my first mosh pit.  Oh the joys of a mosh pit.  Bruises galore, but worth it to see beautiful Brandon Boyd up close.

http://jessicajjohnston.com/folio/?p=531
This is one my favorite Incubus songs.  I prefer their slower stuff, but love it all the same.  I believe Brandon Boyd has one of the best voices in music today.  So clear and pretty.  He and the band are great live.

We all have a weakness
But some of ours are easy to identify
Look me in the eye
and ask for forgiveness
We'll make a pact to never speak that word again
Yes, you are my friend
We all have something that digs at us
At least we dig each other
So when weakness turns my ego up
I know you'll count on the me from yesterday

If I turn into another,
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone
Oh

We all have a sickness
that cleverly attaches and multiplies
No matter how we try
We all have someone that digs at us
At least we dig each other.
So when sickness turns my ego up
I know you'll act as a clever medicine

If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone
Oh, each other
When everything else is gone

If I turn into another
Dig me up from under what is covering
The better part of me
Sing this song
Remind me that we'll always have each other
When everything else is gone

Oh, each other
When everything else is gone
Oh, each other
When everything else is gone

All Over Town- The Kooks

"There are people who would undermine me if they could"

I was running around campus like a mad woman today.  I got to my first class, realized I forgot my computer, and had turn around to get and practically run to get to my class in time.  And then after choir, I had to pretty much run to class within 10 mins because it is on the other side of campus.  My glutes got a great workout today.

http://www.hercampus.com/school/tcnj/exposed-tcnjs-best-kept-secrets
I love this song and the Kooks.  I am so happy to see that they have released a new album.  I really like their new song Junk of the Heart.  Classic Kooks.

Dear sir, did I see you fleeting?
I can’t feel heart but not for it beating
You tried to put a frown on me, fell me down
You’re spreading bad things about me all over town
But I’ll show no frown

Because all over town, yes all over town
There are people who would undermine you if they could
Don’t let them in

What do you see when you see me, sir?
The very same thing that makes you bitter
So you’ll say all these outrageous things, that’s what you do
Yes, but you’re no poet man
You just want everyone looking at you
So I’ll show no frown

Because all over town yes all over this town
There are people who would undermine you if they could
Don’t let them in

Oh, all over town, yes all over this town
There are people who would undermine me if they could
Won’t let them in

No Time- The Guess Who

"No time for my watch and chain"

Oh geez, I am busy.  I am taking 18 credit hours, in 5 organizations, doing community service hours, hopefully doing the school musical soon, and on top of all of that, I need a job, joining a sorority next semester, and still trying to keep us a social life.  I'm starting to think I'm spreading myself too thin.

http://www.mixpakrecords.com/blog/2010/11/page/4/
I love 60s/early 70s rock.  Seriously, they were genius.  Somehow, they all had a great tune that was substantial and catchy.  It's timeless.  I remember my dad listening to this song all the time when I was a kid.  I love the lead's scratchy voice.  Who can forget American Woman?

No time left for you
On my way to better things
No time left for you
I found myself some wings
No time left for you
Distant roads are calling me
No time left for you

No time for a summer friend
No time for the love you send
Seasons change and so did I
You need not wonder why
You need not wonder why
There’s no time left for you
No time left for you.

No time left for you
On my way to better things
No time left for you
I found myself some wings
No time left for you
Distant roads are calling me
No time left for you

No time for a gentle rain
No time for my watch and chain
No time for revolving doors
No time for the killing floor
No time for the killing floor
There’s no time left for you
No time left for you

No time for a summer friend
No time for the love you send
Seasons change and so did I
You need not wonder why
You need not wonder why
There’s no time left for you
No time left for you

No time, no time, no time, no time
No time, no time, no time, no time

I got, got, got, got no time
I got, got, got, got no time
I got, got, got, got no time
No, no, no, no, no, no, no time
No, no, no, no, no, no, no time
I got, got, got, got no time
No, no, no, no, no
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no time
I got no time, got no time, got no time, got no time, got no time
Got no time, got no time

Clark Gable- The Postal Service

"I've been waiting since birth to find a love that would look and sound like a movie"

I am currently reading Gone With the Wind and I am absolutely in love with it.  It is one of my favorite movies and soon to be one of my favorite books.  My favorite character, of course, is Rhett.  I love him.  "You should be kissed and by somebody who knows how." Like, who says that?? Rhett Butler, that's who.  I have always said that I want a man that is as ridiculous as me but as smooth as Clark Gable/Rhett Butler (we all know they are practically the same person.)  He is my favorite old movie star (followed by Montgomery Clift and Gene Kelly) and Rhett is soon to be my new favorite fictional character (followed by Sodapop and Atticus Finch.)

http://www.swingfashionista.com/tag/clark-gable/

When I listen to the Postal Service, I always think of Grey's Anatomy.  That seemed to be the time where all music was this electronic indie thing.  But I really do love the lyrics to this song.  I find it so inventive and awesome that someone finds Clark Gable as romantically smooth as me.

I was waiting for a cross-town train in the
London underground when it struck me
that I've been waiting since birth to find a
love that would look and sound like a movie
So I changed my plans, I rented a camera and
a van and then I called you
I need you to pretend that we are in love again
and you agreed too

I want so badly to believe
that there is truth, that love is real
and I want life in every word to the extent
that it's absurd

I greased the lens and framed the shot using
a friend as my stand-in
The script it called for rain but it was clear
that day so we faked it
The marker snapped and I yelled quiet on the set
and then called action
Ad I kissed you in a style clark gable would have admired
I thought it classic

I want so badly to believe that
there is truth, that love is real
And I want life in every word to the extent
that it's absurd
I know you're wise beyond your years, but
do you ever get the feel
that your perfect verse is just a lie
you tell yourself to help you get by?

Sun Hands- Local Natives

"My hands are blessed to have touched the sun"

I downloaded Local Natives' Gorilla Manor album the other day and it is by far one the best albums I have ever heard.  It is up there with Jeff Buckley's Grace.  That's pretty good in my book.  They are so amazing.  I want to see them live so bad now! Oh, btw, you may be wondering why I don't have a song or post for saturday (or you probably don't care enough to notice.) Funny thing, I switched to the "new blogger template" thingy and I apparently didn't click post when I was done writing it.  My bad.

http://prettymuchamazing.com/news/download-local-natives-stems-remix-local-natives-songs
Sun hands is my absolute favorite on this album.  Airplanes is second.  But, I actually discovered Sun Hands almost 2 years ago.  It was a free download from emusic and I have loved it ever since.  AND NOW I HAVE THE ALBUM!  I really love the catchy tunes, the emotion, the lead singer's voice, the harmonies, and the great percussion and orchestrations on this album.  I am absolutely in love.

I climbed to the top of a hill
but I had just missed the sun
and although the descending arc was gone
left behind were the traces that always follow along

The most beautiful colors chase the sun
They wrap her trail in a taunting gesture
that seems to sing out loud
"This is what you're missing"
I'll endure the night
for the promise of light
I'll endure the night
for the promise of light

I want to lift my hands towards the sun
Show me warmth
Baby, won't you show me warmth again?
And when I can feel with my sun hands
I'll promise not to lose her again
and even if the morning never comes
my hands are blessed to have touched the sun, the sun
I'll endure the night
for the promise of light
I'll endure the night
for the promise of

And when I can feel with my sun hands
I promise not to lose her again
And when I can feel with my sun hands
I promise not to lose her again
And when I can feel with my sun hands
I promise not to lose her again
And when I can feel with my sun hands
I promise not to lose her again

I'll endure the night
for the promise of light
I'll endure the night
for the promise of
