Candle in the Wind- Elton John

"The stars spell out your name"

I went to see the Princess Diana exhibit today and it is amazing.  I always loved her.  I was only 6 when she died but I remember exactly where I was, who was with me, and what was said.  She was so iconic to me, even as a 6 year old.  Plus, it also helps that she is my 23rd cousin lol.   Well, anywho, the exhibit was very beautiful and I am so happy I was able to see it.  It was so well done that I almost cried a few times.....and I don't cry.

I'm not actually too fond of this song.  It's alright.  But, it was written for her, so I figure it should be the song of the day.  It is a great tribute, though.

Goodbye England's rose
May you ever grow in our hearts
You were the grace that placed itself
Where lives were torn apart
You called out to our country
And you whispered to those in pain
Now you belong to heaven
And the stars spell out your name

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall you
Along England's greenest hills
Your candle's burned out long before
Your legend never will

Loveliness we've lost
These empty days without your smile
This torch we'll always carry
For our nation's golden child
And even though we try
The truth brings us to tears
All our words cannot express
The joy you brought us through the years

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall you
Along England's greenest hills
Your candle's burned out long before
Your legend never will

Goodbye England's rose
May you ever grow in our hearts
You were the grace that placed itself
Where lives were torn apart
Goodbye England's rose
From a country lost without your soul
Who'll miss the wings of your compassion
More than you'll ever know

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in
And you footsteps will always fall you
Along England's greenest hills
Your candle's burned out long before
Your legend never will
